I'm sure that you all receive hundreds of inquiries from individuals interested in the company. What makes an individual stand out to you in a way that it might prompt you to forward them on for a closer look or potential employment?

You might have heard that earlier this year we announced we are reinventing the company as we reimagine what it means to be an energy company (https://www.bp.com/en/global/corporate/who-we-are/reimagining-energy.html). We'll have traditional businesses for some time, but they too are changing.
So if you want to stand out I'd say highlight those attributes and skills which can serve current needs and most importantly pivot to future needs of an energy firm. Some job descriptions may even speak to the role or team evolving over time. Hiring managers want candidates to have passion for their work and values as well as ours (trust, respect, safety, one team, courage). It'll be up to you when telling your story to help the hiring manager connect your valuable experience and passion with the future of energy for all our communities.

Hi Conrad! Caveat, not in HR or recruiting; but when I am looking for candidates it always helps to have an internally recommended candidate. I will always pull someone forward if a coworker or someone within BP recommends them for the job. Just gives that little extra. By saying that - my advice would be to network network network. Get involved in programs (such as ACP!) where you can meet people in your fields of interest, join professional societies (I see you are interested in project management/ops - plenty of professional societies in those areas). I participate in the year-long mentorship program with ACP and I always set up my mentees with people in their field of interest to help kick-start their network.
