My family as well as families around the world could not only benefit from those engineered apps to reduce stress but to benefit financially because those inventions would create more and more opportunities for jobs and investment(s). A worldwide economic boost is the vision my family has. When was the last time we had something smart included on smartphones?
My family needs to know if hardware engineers of smartphone cameras can provide training/education or connect us with those who might be able to help on how to not only add to smartphone cameras functions/movements but to create an app to have end users interact with them providing them more power than current limitations. Functions like motion detection and if cameras can be coded with machine learning to detect valuable patterns other than facial recognition.

When talking about making 'cameras do more' there are two distinct scopes. On one end the capabilities of smartphone cameras have been steadily increasing. For example the iPhone X and Pixel 3 cameras are not substantially higher resolution than previous iterations, but what has improved is the image processing (software) and image processors (hardware) found on our smart devices. While this isn't a profound seat-change event like when smartphones entering the market these incremental changes are taking place. These kinds of improvements are slow to happen and for the most part only come out of large (corporate) teams and their R&D because they are not inventing new technologies, but exhausting the improvements that are possible on the hardware available to us today.
On the other end are the rewards and new opportunities that these improvements make for us. This is the space that can be occupied by new start-up teams investigating high-reward high-risk possibilities.
This is where we need to dig deeper on the idea of DIY’ing a solution. In my 5+ years doing sensor facing software development if I have learned anything that this is not a space where you can apply available tools for quickly creating a product. If you want to create the next ‘Uber but for _____’ your task is relatively quick and painless because there are toolchains available for Android-IOS app development, toolchains for map development, toolchains for payment management and so on. Compare that to sensor facing, where a new sensor facing app project is ALSO a project to develop all/most of the required tools. If you have a clear idea of what end result app you want to create then the first step is breaking the image processing down into the specific tasks required to get a sense of a scope of the project in front of you. After doing that and getting a sense of how large a realistic team is to accomplish this goal, does the idea still support the endeavor? Then you are on the path to a startup.
