To be more specific, what certifications are recommended to boost a resume seeking a position within healthcare administration?
Answers
Thank you very much for your guidance.
I appreciate you directing me towards additional resources. Glassdoor and Indeed have both proven helpful to my research. I look forward to the next steps in my career.
A Bachelor in Science is preferred, depending on you background management is good. More MBA’s are sought in operations than MHA’s.
A certificate in reimbursement is great as that is a huge issue, getting paid for what you do. Healthcare finance might be another area. Of course Lean Six Sigma is always helpful.
Check out the job market, read a bunch of announcements off Indeed, forget geography and look at requirements, learn the lingo then start narrowing down by your geographic needs. Know what the market wants, study it! Thanks for service and God Bless.
Hi Melissa,
Thank you for your service and for posting your question.
Please see the following link for a list of healthcare-specific certifications deemed important in the industry. You should note that some of the included certifications call for a degree higher than the Bachelor level. https://www.healthcare-management-degree.net/list-articles/five-valuable-certifications-for-people-in-health-care-management-careers/
I know that you've applied to our Mentoring Program, and we hope to pair you shortly with a mentor who has healthcare experience; questions like these will be important to ask. I would also recommend the Community feature on this site, through which you can connect with other advisors in the field directly.
I hope that this is helpful information, but please let me or your point of contact, Taylor, know if we can answer additional questions.
Best,
Shane
Hi Melissa!
Thanks much for your service!
Healthcare Administration is a broad field. In itself is a Masters in HA. However, if you check this Glassdoor.com for specific field or just for Healthcare Administration, it can help you! Open up a log in for job search. You're bound to find something!
Hope this helps.
