My husband is a fly fisherman, and he has discovered great places for backcountry fly fishing especially on the North Umpqua River (Southern Oregon). He needs advice concerning marketing, so that he can find customers. The website is: www.ravenoregon.com. At the moment he is inviting some people like friends for free, or they pay just to cover gas mileage. But he hasn't had a paying customer yet. We will appreciate any advice/recommendations. Fly fishing is something so important for him because it saved his life after his military career (US Army, sniper).
And, as an extension of our gratitude for the services you have provided to the veteran community, we invite all who have helped to join Rusty for a backcountry experience. No guiding fees.
Paying it forward,
THANK YOU

Thank you to you all for your advice and recommendations, We appreciate it a lot. Jodie, we started a non-profit Source One Serenity (sourceoneserenity.wordpress.com) for veterans 3 years, and it goes very well! But my husband wanted to take a step further to supplement income for the family, that's why he registered LLC, Raven Outfitters to get paying customers. It sounds great that you are familiar with our area in Oregon. Thank you for your advice concerning regional tourist hubs. Unfortunately, our local tourist office wasn't helpful and they lost their contract with Travel Oregon for this year. But working with other local hubs, like Bend and Eugene, it is definitely a good idea. Thank you!
I used to recruit medical providers for the Army in Oregon. I know the Area you are talking about. I would incorporate as an LLC, register with the Oregon Business, tourist, and fish and wildlife board. Partner with regional tourist hubs to tout your business hub i.e. Bend, Klamath Falls, Hood River, Portland, Eugene, and Salem websites. MWR at JBLM is also a good place to advertise your trip to vets.
I know of a retired marine in quantico who chose to run a non-profit fishing company for wounded vets. He loves it and it pays the bills. Have you considered the company being a non-profit?
Hi Elena,
I just took a look at the site and you and Rusty have done a fantastic job! Hats off to you guys for following your passion. Shoot me an email timothy.v.turpin@gmail.com and we can exchange numbers for a chat if you would like. I have a couple of ideas and potentially a couple of guides who might be able to shed some light on their marketing techniques... Good luck and I look forward to hearing from you!
