I will soon be exiting the military after serving 6 years honorably as an Air Traffic Controller. I will start the job search soon and I am just looking for any information about this topic in general. I have done research myself but my military contacts dont have much use in the civilian world! Thanks

Dear Justin,
The job series number for Air Traffic Control is 2152. You can use that number in the search field of www.usajobs.gov. As Advisor- Andrea Bryant mentioned, the job announcements often provide you with the various requirements for different assignments (Terminal vs. Center, for example.)
The following websites might be of interest to you, as well:
https://www.faa.gov/jobs/career_fields/aviation_careers/
https://www.faa.gov/news/updates/?newsId=92426
https://www.transportation.gov/careers/veterans/air-traffic-controller. Even though this webpage was last updated three years ago, and the email contact at the bottom of the page is no longer in use, the site still may provide useful information.
Good luck with your transition and thank you for your Service!
Sincerely,
Bob Jurasek
Hello Justin,
Thanks for your question. While I will not be able to specifically speak to becoming an Air Traffic Controller, I can speak to some of what is required for the application process for a federal job. This would take place through USAjobs.com, and would require a federal resume. I would highly recommend that you create an account there and peruse any positions for an FAA ATC, whether you intend to apply or not. This will give you a much more detailed idea of what to expect and how best to prepare.
As you may imagine, federal resumes are tough to get in order, and an application for a federal job can take a long time to get processed. This would be the first place to get started, and I highly recommend sending a direct message to the advisors here for help to get started on yours:

Best of luck in becoming a civilian air traffic controller, and keep asking questions!
Best,
Andrea
