Web site and app suggestions?

Veteran

Eddie Starr Spokane , WA

Hello everyone!

I am working on a web site as part of my Mobile App business: http://allstarrunitedartisans.ga/

The focus is on helping churches, ngos, and npos with fundraising. This is done, by creating a mobile app for them, and in the app, there are affiliate programs, such as through Amazon. I include a link to a web demo app.

Thus, when members and the community at large download the (free) app, they can pick fundraise. From there, there will be a set of pre-loaded sites (that the organization picks) that people can visit, and shop as they normally would. The organization earns the affiliate commission, and the shoppers can write off that commission for their taxes (I do specify on my blog that they should contact a tax professional).

I would like some others to help evaluate my site, for "user friendliness," any graphic suggestions, make sure the links work, etc.

I especially want feedback on the App development page. I'm thinking about cutting down most of it, and leaving it for my "letter of engagement.doc" which they can download, if interested.

Also, on the packages, I'll probably be changing them. I'll probably leave The Social as is, mainly so people can have a "feel for it." The rest, I'll up the rate, as I've now calculated my living expenses, and $500 will be the minimum I need, per project, and up my storage and update fees to $50; I could offer "payment plans."

Thanks for taking time to review my site, and make suggestions to help make it "user friendly."

Thank you for your service, Eddie. As a former IT developer, strategist, trainer, and implementer, I know well all the ongoing effort involved in creating and maintaining an online system to support others. I wish you the best. If your circumstances or direction should change in the future, perhaps you keep us on file as an alternative way to reach out to non-profits and still utilize those skills while using a turn-key system. Hi Eddie,
I will preface this by saying I have a Christian therapy practice and am not involved in IT, so I approach marketing with a "how does this feel to my potential client" mindset. My feedback on your website at first glance is as follows (please take or leave whatever makes sense to you).

If your potential client is church leadership, the banner image does not make sense to me. I would lean towards something more "feely" like an image of people giving back to the community, building the church, etc. Because feel is very important in the client decision to continue reading or pass up your request as another sales request. If your target is church decision makers I would place brief overview first thing so they are interested in reading further, with maybe a separate page for their member FAQ.

I would also suggest a catchy tagline that quickly sums up what you do (Ie: helping your members give back without writing a check) over the banner. Obviously would need tailoring based on your understanding of what your app does. Reading as a person involved in church but not the other organizations you referenced, I didn't have any immediate understanding of what you do or who you serve.

If possible on the main site I would move the adds lower as they give an immediate look of a sales page which is a turn off to most. I get pitches in my inbox frequently and honestly usually ignore them if I feel like they are trying to sell and I don't immediately understand the benefit of what they are selling me.

You might consider marketing with a specific page to target the different potential clients as you could get more interest from churches if you incorporate some church language and an understanding of their member needs versus another nonprofit who might have slightly different goals.

I hope some of this is helpful and best of luck to you in this work!

Foremost, thank you for your service.

I would reach out to Foresee.com (Ann Arbor MI) ... they specialize in customer experience analytics ... amd have an awesome UX heuristics competency. They have many public and private sector clients for whom they provide the very services you're seeking. But in your outreach, make it clear you're seeking pro bono assistance (given vet status), as they're a fee-based consultancy. Can't promise they'll agree, but doesn't hurt to ask. Good luck!
