I am increasingly noting the credential "PMP" after many people's names on LinkedIn. After further investigation, I am wondering if managers, executives, HR representatives, hiring authorities, and recruiters find added value in this certification.
Having just completed my MBA, I wonder if adding "PMP" increases my net present value or if it would be a waste of time and money pursuing this moniker.
Thanks in advance for your opinions and advice!

Thanks for your service!
My answer to your question is a resounding YES! - assuming you are seeking a program / project management position. I rarely see position / labor category descriptions for PMs that do NOT require PMP certification. So, it's not just a "value added" cert, it's almost universally an essential qualification for PM jobs.
That said, with a PMP cert becoming a "commoditized" quality amongst job candidates, then you might want to consider pursuing a more specialized PMI certification in your area of expertise and/or targeted career. Examples of these certs include PMP-RMP (risk management) and PMI-SP (scheduling). Here is the link to all PMI certification types, FYI:

Best of luck to you and thanks again for your service!

Hi Michael, Respectfully, neither MBA nor PMP are turn-key. To obtain the highest salary, you need specialized skills in a skill area demanded by employers. For example, Cybersecurity or Artificial Intelligence.
Here is an example of a program that provides Cybersecurity skills :

Good luck !
Congratulations on completing your MBA! If you are considering pursuing any opportunities where you would be responsible for a managing project, this certification would be of interest to hiring authorities and recruiters.
Hi Michael . I have to agree with John . By getting a PMP , with no specialty, won't land you a dream job. Pick a specialty and pursue that direction . Always think next generation and not legacy, if your pursuit is getting involved with Technology . But whatever industry you choose , project management is always in high demand, world-wide.
Good Luck .
