I have a great mentor who is helping immensely in my transition efforts. I am posting in an effort to continue to cast the net in search of an organization that seeks an experienced leader with expertise in project management and operations management. I am PMP certified with an MBA from George Washington University. For further info about me, my linkedin url is: linkedin.com/in/edward-donovan-mba-pmp-97630a78. Thanks, Ed.

TO APPLY FOR POSITIONS AT RAYTHEON, FOLLOW THESE STEPS:
1. Visit www.raytheon.com/military
2. Click “Drop off your resume here” to add yourself to the transitioning military database for review by our recruiters.
3. To search for jobs of interest and submit to specific jobs, select “search our openings and apply.”
4. Create a login and more detailed profile if it is your first visit to the site. Complete the voluntary self-identification form
Tip from recruiters: Only provide information that is relevant to the position you are applying for. Once you locate the desired job or position, review the job description, required or desired skills, required or desired education, and security clearance requirements. Read all items carefully and note key skills, systems, programs, etc. Tailor your resume to address these specific items using the verbiage in the job posting. There are military translators that may be of help, for example http://www.military.com/veteran-jobs/skills-translator/.
My company has a big office is Raleigh and often needs PM experience. I'd be happy to send you job referrals if you'd like! Please let me know the best email to use.
Hi Ed, I will suggest two different ideas to consider with your networking:
1) Reach out to elected officials asking for leads and contacts. Write your Governor, US Senators, State Senators and local mayors introducing yourself as an experienced veteran looking for work in your chosen field. Give them a few lines of your credentials and tell them that you would welcome any leads or referrals. It cannot hurt to try.
2) Target companies in the geographic area you desire and do some research. Visit their websites, do a Google search under " news" , read an annual report etc. Send an e mail , with your resume and a cover letter, introducing yourself and why you feel that you would be a good fit for their company. Be specific abut your skills aligning with their strategies etc. You send the e mail to the CEO with a subject header like " US Marine Veteran Hoping To Join Your Team"
Now, clearly if anyone can give you direct access via referrals via this advisor community, that is an excellent choice, I just want to offer two approaches for you to consider.
Thank you for your service Ed and GOOD LUCK to you, Best Regards, Mike
Hello Col Donovan - wish you all the best.
In my opinion (and many others) the credentials you possess (MBA/PMP) are good, but not enough to get the very best job.

What I believe is more important than those two credentials is combining those credentials with a specialization.

For example, a specialization in Cyber-security or Artificial Intelligence.

Best of luck to you. Hope this information is helpful.
