Im currently an engineering inspector and like everyone else I want more. As i am now, my pay isnt much and i have almost a years experience in this field. I want to be able to advance in this field. I have yet to use my GI Bill. I work 70 hours a week, have 2 kids, and a wife that works full time. I can however work on my studies during work often. My only option is Old Dominion University online. Is it even possible or worth my time?

Dustin-
Thanks for your service!
Are there any certifications in your field that would help elevate your salary potential?
I would check into those first before committing to a 4 year degree program.
Good luck!

Information Technology would be a better option, in my opinion.

If you only make $50k per year and it takes you 70 hours per week to do that, you are only making $14 per hour.
A Cyber-security engineer can earn $200k annual base salary.
In ten year work history, on your current job, you could have earned $500,000; or, in ten years in IT, you could have become a millionaire twice.
Which would you rather ?
Hi Dustin, a place to start is https://www.mynextmove.org/ which is an easy to navigate site where you can match up your skills, passions and different industries. It also shows salary , growth in the sector etc. Certainly take any advice from the advisors about growing within your current field, I'm just giving you an option to look outside. You might be surprised when you look at your " transferable skills" that a bigger and better opportunity might await you. Just a consideration for you to reflect on. Thank you for your service and GOOD LUCK to you. Best Regards, Mike
A four year engineering degree is very marketable. There may be some employer preference for a traditional degree but I think the courses and grades would have more weight. In any event if you can't go the traditional route, the on-line should be very worthwhile. I wouldn't decide against an engineering degree for that reason. My webpage is www.engineeringtutor.biz if you want some tutoring help.
Dustin,
I may be able to offer you some advice. I do on-line tutoring in some engineering subjects. Those can be found on my webpage www.engineeringtutor.biz I don't charge anything for either advising or tutoring.

Hi Dustin,
Why is Old Dominion University your only choice?
I know that there are several other online civil engineering schools out there. Below I have added a few that you could look into. Hope this can help!
New Jersey Institute of Technology Online Civil Engineering:
