As a disabled veteran, I've been seriously struggling to get the help and resources needed to set up my import /export company. I am still unable to locate the specific available resources organizations setup to help double disabled veteran like myself. If available, I will also like to get some education and training in the import and export arena. I am open to any suggestions and or recommendations.
Thanks

Agree with Brian....go profit and then give profits to those who need it. Import is VERY difficult....product that is needed, travel to negotiate cost, avoiding product that turns into a commodity, avoiding knock-off competition, import warehouse, import duties, irrevocable letters of credit, minimum order requirements, retail and wholesale distribution network....contact me if you want more info. Export also VERY difficult....in third world no rule of law locations, you can find your export ceased by a cousin of a powerful government official. Contact me if you want more info. You can make LARGE profits on import/export. Good luck.
Hi Ignatius,
I am not a 501c3 expert. But I might ask the question, "Why do you want to be a non-profit?" In many situations, I think people want to be a non-profit because they think it is the honorable way to go.
But being a for-profit and using some profits to benefit an organization of your choice is also an option. Are you aware of all the regulation and paperwork of being a non-profit?
Are you, or someone on your team, adept at fund raising? Because that will be a huge part of what you will end up doing. Just being a 501c3 will not have people lined up at your door wanting to give you money. There are so many non-profits out there, that it is tough to get the right people and companies to donate. Everyone is vying for that money.
I do have experience starting businesses. If you'd like to discuss any specifics of that, feel free to reach out to me.
