After 5 years of working in Los Angeles, I'm looking to expand my media production business to create sponsor backed content similar to what Buzzfeed and Buzzfeed Partner do. https://www.facebook.com/search/top/?q=BuzzFeed%20puppychow. My business focuses on hiring veterans to work in the entertainment industry and some content would be geared toward the veteran community. I was curious if anyone had experience working with ad agencies or an idea what the proposals would look like (I have some content already in mind). Please let me know, thanks!

Hello, Adrienne
Thank you for your service. Your idea to focus your business on working with veterans is commendable, but I would recommend that you not limit your business to just veterans. Like you, I am a veteran and have taken to heart all the good advice I have been given, but just working with veterans is niche and a niche business is always a difficult and financially challenging business to run and make a living.
That said, every single advertising agency I have sub-contracted or managed in my own career is always looking for an advertising focus that differentiates them from their competitors or mirrors the interests of the principal owners. That is why advertising agencies, in particular, do a great deal of pro bono work for non-profits. Your focus, helping veterans to work in the entertainment business, I think would certainly be of interest to a few larger advertising agencies. I wonder if, in Los Angeles, San Francisco or San Diego, with large veteran populations if there are not already some agency doing work with veterans groups or wanting to. This AdvisorNet website is a good example of what help can be provided in the area of promoting veterans and their unique experience.
I think my own plan that aligns with your goals is to simply go and interview with the numerous advertising agencies in Los Angeles and pitch your idea to the a principal owner, a creative director or even an HR person in the agency.
I wish you much success in your endeavor and than you for your service.
