How can I gain experience after receiving my PhD in Organizational Psychology

Veteran

Sandra Thompson Harker Heights , TX

I am a retired LTC who graduates in July 2016 with a PhD in Organizational Psychology. I want to use this degree to serve more people by mentoring and improving the lives of people in and out of the military. I am so anxious to give back to my community.

Did you work while in school? Have you had an internship in this area of work? Perhaps an entry level mentoring position with either the Veterans Administration or a transition office at a military installation would be a good place to get your feet wet.

Hi Sandra,
Thank you for your service! You can consider the Dept of Veterans Affairs - they need your expertise. I agree to look at the SIOP. Look at volunteer opportunities that made lead to full time employment.

Sometimes volunteering can be a way to stay busy, and gain experience, counsellors are always in high demand. Check your state's non profit association volunteer opportunities. Good Luck!

Have you explored 'SIOP' - Society for Industrial & Organizational Psychology https://www.siop.org/jobnet/? Might be a fruitful place to gain quick access to helpful resources and opportunities.

Best wishes for success, and thank you for your service. ~BARRON

There is a jobs section there.
