Generally, it is easier to get promoted from non-manager to manager (of people) in the same company because they know you, than in a new company where they don't. OTOH, it is generally easier to go from manager to director by jumping companies than by waiting for the person above you to die or quit. I can't tell from your question which level you are, but maybe this will help you think about your options,

Hi Sylvester,
What is your career goal and specific field that you are interest in? Why IT? What about auto industry dying for professional who can get all the components to build a car?

You already have two MBA degrees in Supply chain / operation management and in project management. Most VPs in top Fortune 20 Company do have them. My personal opinion is don’t waste any time to get more certifications. Suggest focus on identify the industry and company you want to get involved with and hard pursue them. What about UPS, Amazon, Procter and Gamble… they all search for supply chain, logistic, project management professional….

Another point is a Director/VP in a $200 million company may get less salary than a Global category manager in a multi-billion company so title is meaningless. But once you get in the right company as manager, the growth potential is limitless.

Good Luck!
