Transitioning from the military (Army) in about a year (>25yrs). I am looking for organizations willing to provide insight or mentorship in the areas of operations management or project management and PMI certification. I am finishing my graduate degree (MBA/Project Management) but my experiences are mainly in supply chain/logistics and operations management. I am interested in aligning my employment search around industries where I can add value based off my experiences. Any support is greatly appreciated.

Sergeant Major,
* I advise being open to many forms of mentorship - in-person, remote (web, phone, email, etc.), one-on-one, group, expert, peer, assigned, ad-hoc, formal, informal, etc.
A few good places to look:
* ACP-usa.org. Specifically request a mentor in Project Management and/or Operations Management.
* A local chapter of PMI.org
* LinkedIn. The MC4 group and the Veteran Mentor Network are both highly constructive and both have many members in the Project Management "field".
* And also, be sure to research VCTP Syracuse and its PMP certifications training track. 100% free, one exam paid for. The next deadline is Aug 25, 2014, take action soon.
* Professional organizations such as PMI.org (mentioned above) and others.
Research the various mentoring programs that APICS and CSCMP offer, and consider applying to some of these programs.
