Hello My Name is Byron Patterson I am passionate about the accounting field and would like knowledge in and more expeience in the accounting field where my technical skills in accounting can be fostered in a positive, community oriented company. Upon retiring from the United States Navy, my desire if to be the most qualified candidate and transition form miliitary to two to three expienced accounting job to increase my knowledge and experience to grow in the accounting industry.

Make sure you start developing your network in the area you plan to reside. Go on Linked In and see the list of accountants in your area. Read their background and then give a couple of them that interest you a call. Start off by praising them -- perhaps mentioning their impressive background. People like to hear positives about themselves. Then tell them about your military background and your passion for accounting. Then ask if you could come in to meet them. Most people will reluctantly agree since it would look bad turning down a soon-to-be vet. Then meet with them and sell them on you. As I write in my book, you want to be a face not a name on a resume. Good luck and thanks for serving our country.
