About Michael
Greetings Everyone - I am a U.S. Army Reserve (USAR) Lieutenant Colonel (LTC); my primary career field is Military Intelligence, but for the past several years I have been focused on geopolitical issues as a Foreign Area Officer. My regional focuses are Europe and Latin America, and I perform my Reserve duties at U.S. Embassies in these regions. I am a fluent Spanish speaker and enjoy working in the language whenever possible. I volunteered for Active Duty in 2004-2006, and deployed to Iraq (2005), Ethiopia (2005), and the Horn of Africa (2004).
Since 2006, I have worked as a civilian officer for the Department of Defense. My assignments have included a two-year posting at U.S. Embassy Mexico City, a six-month deployment to Afghanistan, and my current role as an Intelligence Officer and regional expert with U.S. European Command in Stuttgart, Germany.
Prior to my mobilization, I worked in the financial services industry in New York, NY. I was a capital markets credit risk analyst. I am a Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialist (CAMS) and maintain situational awareness of counter-terror financing and money laundering methodologies.
My passions are traveling, experiencing different cultures, and working with international partners. In my current role, I have had the ability to do each of these, but I am interested in exploring new opportunities to focus on improving corporations, and maintaining the safety of business operations and personnel. I am a born and raised New Yorker and I am married to my wife Cora, a Registered Nurse originally from Longford, Ireland.
