About Suzanne

I was born and raised in Santa Maria, CA. I'm a graduate of Santa Maria High School and California Polytechnic State University-San Luis Obispo. I began flying at the San Luis Obispo, CA (SBP) airport after seeing an "Introductory Flight" coupon in the newspaper. I obtained my private pilot license in January 1978. By the end of 1979, I had obtained my instrument, commercial, flight instructor and multi-engine ratings, and began working as a flight instructor.

I flew charter, corporate, and regional airline flying for the next five years, and was hired by Northwest Airlines in September 1984 as a Boeing 727 second officer (flight engineer). My 30+ year progression through Northwest Airlines, (merged with Delta Airlines in 2009), has been:
DC-10 Second Officer (Flight Engineer),
B-727 First Officer (Co-Pilot),
B-747 Second Officer,
B-757 First Officer,
DC-10 First Officer,
DC-10 Captain,
B-747 Captain,
Airbus A-330 Captain.

I live in Kailua-Kona, HI and I commute to my base in Seattle, WA. I have a grown son, who resides in Portland, OR.

I am a member of several organizations. I am a Ninety-Nine (International Organization of Women Pilots). I am also a member of Women in Aviation (WIAI) and the International Society of Women Airline Pilots (ISA).
