About Natalie
Professional educator (undergrad in speech pathology, grad in secondary science-bio) who believes learning and change throughout ones life to be the most significant endeavor anyone can pursue and to that end I love what I do as a tutor. Characteristically, I have used constructivist pedagogy as my approach. The value in finding intersections of art, history and broad thought through exploration become rich access points in a well rounded education.
50% of my students have defined learning disabilities which require me to assist in writing a 504/IEP and to help teachers learn how to implement these concepts for students. 50% of my students are soup to nuts - Algebra, AP English Writing, etc. I have been a corporate trainer and am able to work with all types of students to help them develop their skills for learning.
My teaching philosophy is summed up by the following:
1) Education is the only commodity which never loses value.
2) Knowledge is indeed power - it is the most transformative resource to the individual, community and world at large.
3) Education is the best way to provide self efficacy within marginalized groups of people.
4) Giving a student agency allows them to follow their own North Star.
I have served in the Peace Corps and work with international students.
