About Brian

I've worked as a software developer since 1987 in a variety of hardware, software and operating system environments, and I have also served in roles such as lead developer and project manager. In the project management role, I gathered requirements from clients, determined the necessary skills or technologies required to complete a project, assembled a development team, wrote proposals, contracts, design, functional and summary documents. As a project manager and lead developer, I have dealt with upper management or clients and led my teams from start to completion of my projects, including the handling of any problems which needed to be resolved.

I have developed dozens of websites, and in every case I have been either the sole or a primary technical resource in the completion of the project. You can review my portfolio by clicking the Portfolio link of my website, which is at the following URL:

http://www.brianlfox.com.

In addition to serving as a senior web developer, I have administered database changes to development, test and production environments, set up SVN (Subversion) repositories and access for team members, documented development standards for team members, acclimated new members to our development environment, provided development guidance as needed, etc.

In regard to technology, I am well-versed in using object-oriented PHP using the MVC design pattern, and I have used several MVC frameworks (CodeIgniter, CakePHP, etc.), customized open source solutions or written applications from scratch. Since I have a strong database background with databases such as Oracle and SQL Server, I am comfortable in modeling mySQL databases and using stored procedure or triggers if desired. I am fluent with JavaScript/JQuery/JQuery UI, JQuery Mobile, REST services, using and writing APIs and using Ajax functionality, and I've written custom implementations for eCommerce (Authorize.net, PayPal, etc.). I'm currently designing websites as well as mobile solutions.

Specialties: Project management, business analysis, software development, building and leading development teams (Agile approach), database modeling, performance tuning code, eCommerce, etc.
