Married to wife Elizabeth (Betty) Meyer, since November 25, 1950.
Drafted into the U.S. Army, February, 1951. Reception Center, Fort Lewis, WA.
Basic & Advanced training. Fort Hood, TX. First Medium Tank Battalion.
Transfer to Fort Lawton, WA, Debarkation Center for Troop Ship to Camp Drake, Japan.
Transfer to Camp Gifu, Japan for Far East Chemical School for training in (CBR) Chemical, Biological, and Radiological Warfare. Promoted to rank of Corporal.
Transfer to Inchon Korea. Duties included supervising Troop Transfer in and out of the Port, Cargo in and out of the Port, Transport of incoming wounded to nearby Navy Hospital Ship, The USNS “REPOSE”. The “walking wounded”, transported by boat, and the seriously wounded were loaded on helicopters for transport to the hospital ship. Also involved with mechanical and machining repairs to ships docked at the port plus mechanical and machining repairs to diesel locomotives at the port’s rail yard.
Honorably discharged April, 1953 after completing tour of duty. Korean War “truce” was signed June, 1953.
