About Daniel

I most recently served as senior vice president of Programming Acquisitions for DIRECTV and was responsible for program acquisition activities for DIRECTV with respect to all general entertainment and premium cable networks, with responsibility for negotiating carriage agreements for all new and existing networks. I also oversaw DIRECTV’s sports programming negotiations and was responsible for the strategy and negotiations with respect to local broadcast station groups. Dan worked regularly with the CEO and other senior management as lead strategist with respect to pricing and packaging of content as well as budgeting and forecasting of programming costs.

Prior to joining DIRECTV in 1998, I spent three years working for FOX Broadcasting Company in Los Angeles as Senior Counsel, Legal Affairs. In his capacity as in-house counsel for Fox Sports, he served as lead attorney for all sports-related areas (including talent, production and marketing) and also negotiated and drafted documentation relating to sports rights acquisitions for the network.

As a corporate attorney with O’Melveny & Myers in Los Angeles from 1989 to 1995, I represented numerous major public and private corporations and financial institutions in a variety of corporate and lending transactions.

I graduated with honors from The Pennsylvania State University in May 1985 and was actively involved in a variety of organizations and spent four years in the University’s Schreyers Honors College. He received his Juris Doctorate in May 1989 with honors from George Washington University Law Center where he served as a Trustee Scholar. He is a non-practicing member of the California Bar.

I served as a Board member on The Tennis Channel from 2007 through 2012 and currently serve as a Board member on the Los Angeles Sports Council and Southern California Committee of Olympic Games.

I'm currently on a much-needed break from work and have spent the last 20 months traveling, hiking, cooking, getting my tennis game back and just re-connecting with family and friends. Recently certified in scuba diving.
