About Karen

I was born into military life, and everything that comes with it. My father was a Navy pilot. I started in civil service at Command Staff Admin at the age of 19. After two years of civil service, I followed in his footsteps and joined the Navy as a Simulator Technician and later transferred to the Reserves as an Avionics Technician.
While on active duty, I met and married my husband—another Navy man. We were a "chow hall romance" in Avionics Class A School. We later married and quickly grew our family. We had two sons while on active duty. Both my husband and I decided I could serve my country better by being a full time mom. My husband retired several years later. We dealt with good times and bad, but we remained a family with love at its core.
I’m not just a Navy woman. I have been involved with all branches of the US Armed Forces all of my life. My career allowed me to work in civil service and serve as a DOD contract administrator for over 10 years. During that time I reviewed hundreds of resumes. So many qualified people with such poor representation on their resumes….it broke my heart.
Because of my strong administrative and human resources background, I started a resume and administrative support business in 1991. My expertise is in military transitions.
It was a rocky start with a very big learning curve. My business forced me to overcome many personal fears. Many times my efforts involved just putting one foot in front of the other with the goal of financial stability nowhere in sight. My mentors and coaches encouraged me by providing resources to develop the people skills, business skills, and mental toughness needed to succeed. Along the way, and after 12 years of being turned down by traditional publishers, I published two children’s books on my own.
To repay my mentors for all their time, energy, and support, my life goal is to share these lessons with the people I meet, person to person. With each unique encounter I have, whether it be at the grocery store, a coffee shop or at one of the author workshops I offer to schools and bookstores throughout the country, my goal is to empower people. I aim to communicate the power behind the passion a dream can yield. My life’s work is to enable young and old to follow their dreams and achieve their hearts’ desires.
I have been creating resumes and civil service applications for over 35 years. With my senior executive level support background and extensive network of contractors and military personnel throughout the country, it would be my great pleasure to help our veterans in their own transition into civilian life. Please allow me to help you.
