About Rachel
Major Rachel A. Ianacone is the Assistant Director Commander’s Action Group, U.S. Indo-Pacific Command, Hawaii. In her previous assignment she was a Mansfield Fellow in Tokyo, Japan. During the fellowship she completed placements with three Japanese ministries,
a Cabinet Bureau office, a Diet Member’s office, and an airline. Major Ianacone previously served she was a Wing Executive Officer, 62d Airlift Wing, Joint Base Lewis McChord, Washington and as the flight commander to the 62d Operations Support Squadron (OSS)
Airfield Operations Flight.
Major Ianacone received her Air Force commission in 2005 as a graduate of the Reserve Officers' Training Corps program at Portland State University. Her career includes assignments as an Airfield Operations Officer Training Student (OTP) in Altus, OK. Following graduation from OTP in 2006 she was assigned as the Airfield Operations Flight’s systems officer at the 374th OSS. Following her assignment at Yokota, Air Base she was stationed at Kadena, Air Base where she served as the Airfield Operations Flight Commander in the 18th OSS. She’s deployed to Afghanistan twice where she worked as the theater airspace manager and most recently was in charge of Kabul Tower. Her young sister, Sarah Bobnick, is also an Air Force Officer and is a Flight Doctor at Dover Air Force Base.
