About Jonathan

I am an Account Executive at Travelers Insurance Company underwriting Business Insurance. I manage a book of business ensuring that business owners maintain sufficient coverages while maintaining profitability for the Travelers. I work in the Select Business unit which focuses on small to medium size businesses including the following: Condominiums, Apartments, Businesses, Stores, Offices, Tech Office
, Contractors, Manufactures, Technology Manufactures, Wholesalers, and Auto Garages. I underwrite Property, Auto, General Liability, Workers Compensation, and Umbrella Insurance.

I serve as an Internship Mentor/Coach, guiding interns throughout their summer projects and coaching them on their technical and soft skills; preparing them for full time positions within Travelers.

Outside of my underwriting role, I serve as the Chairman of the New to Industry Board as well as a representative on the Travelers Chicagoland Community Relations Committee, interacting and working with Senior Management in executing self-development events and volunteer opportunities for employees in the Naperville and Chicago offices. I also serve on the communications committee for the Black/African-American Diversity Network at Travelers, in creating communications for our events that take place country wide.

I would like to participate in this program in efforts to serve as a resource to individuals making the transition from the military to the private sector. My father taught me that the experience can be challenging and overwhelming to those who have been in the service over an expanded period of time. I’ve learned first-hand that when you grow up in a military family or serve in the capacity, it becomes all you know and the greatest opportunity in the transition, is applying the skill sets learned from one’s experience towards future positions.

I believe we all have the capacity to thrive in any position, at any company or organization, as long as we put forth the strong work ethic, morals, and discipline we have come to learn over time. The military has and continues to instill many values, skills, and beneficial learning experiences that can be applied to the private sector. I hope to be able assist in highlighting individual’s strengths and skills that they have accumulated during their service, and be able to communicate there applicability in the private sector. I also believe it is equally important to uncover areas of improvement, in efforts to promote growth in oneself. If chosen as a Advisor, I will help individuals to grow professionally, become more self-aware, and learn how to better integrate within their environment.
