About Nelson
I am an Air Force veteran with twelve years total time in service, with six years active duty and the remainder in the reserve. In June of last year, I separated from the Air Force and am currently in the Individual Ready Reserves (IRR). My highest rank was technical sergeant (E-6). While in the Air Force, I was an aircraft electrical and environmental systems craftsman.
Currently, I reside in Staten Island, New York. I hold a bachelor of science degree in aeronautics from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, with minors in aviation safety and management.
In January 2013, I participated in a study-abroad program in China. While in China, I was enrolled in a business and Chinese culture course with Shanghai University.
In May 2013, I will graduate with a second bachelor's degree from John Jay College, located in New York City. My degree will be in computer information systems, with a minor in mathematics.
After graduation, I will begin a full time position as a business analyst with JPMorgan Chase in New York City. This past summer, I interned with this company. My internship was very beneficial to starting my career as I gained valuable practical experience. I am excited about starting a technology career with one of the most prestigious financial firms in the world.
In 2011, I was a protege of American Corporate Partners. My mentor was Mark Risoldi, an information technology risk management professional who works for JPMorgan Chase in New York City. We still maintain contact with each other. I have learned a great deal about business and information technology from Mark.
