About Tom
I transitioned from the Navy in 2017 after about 22 years of service. I deployed A LOT all over the world throughout my military career. I was enlisted for 12 years, achieving the rank of Chief Petty Officer, and then I received a commission and was an Officer for the remainder of my service. The worldwide traveling experience was priceless.
Go after what you truly want to do. Don't feel that you only have to go into the same industry you came from within the military, especially because that's what you may see a lot of other people do.
When I got out of the military I was a manager/supervisor (it's interchangeable in the "civilian world") in the manufacturing, sales, personal training, security, and project management job fields. I enjoyed it all, and still enjoy working with some of the various industries. Over the past year I decided to go after one of my passions and learn more about software development, so I enrolled in a coding bootcamp and then found a job back in the manufacturing realm as a Software Engineer. It's been awesome journey over the years!
Feel free to reach out to me if you have any questions. Transitioning out of the military is an exciting time and can be very rough and scary. Think about the work-life balance you want. It's important!
Have a good one!
