About Lisanne
When I went to college, I wanted to be a civil servant. I wanted to find a way to participate in my government and my community and be part of a positive effort that helped others. Long story short, I graduated during an era of significant budget deficits and hiring freezes, and ended up instead in the private sector, but with a practice that focused on providing internal audit, compliance, and risk management consulting services to state and local government agencies, universities, and non-profit organizations. Though it wasn't the path I initially envisioned, it turned out to be a perfect fit. Though I didn't graduate from college with all the skills my new colleagues had, I found in myself a capacity to learn quickly within a new context/environment, and found the challenges I faced both invigorating and fulfilling. I also found that my different perspective added to our team's capability and success, rather than detracting from it.
Though I have never been a member of the military, I imagine that they face similar challenges returning to civilian life, with the same capacity and hunger to overcome adversity. In the military, I see brave men and women with amazing skills, competencies and experience, that are seeking new ways to apply this experience and be rewarded for it. When I saw the commercial on TV about this organization, and how it seeks to connect veterans with business leaders to help them find new careers, I knew I wanted to be a part of it.
I have over 12 years of experience providing various consulting services to the public and private sector, including business operation and process improvement reviews, financial and organizational department reviews, audit assistance, business continuity management, and Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) review and implementation assistance. My focus for the last five years has been on ERM implementation, including organizational objective setting assistance, risk identification and evaluation activities, the development of risk assessment tools and techniques, providing education and training on ERM and risk assessment techniques, and assisting with the development of new automated systems to help organizations proactively manage their risks using metrics, dashboard systems, and other operational processes to help communicate and monitor risks over time. I assist my clients in developing practical and sustainable mitigation strategies in order to manage diverse and dynamic risks.
I have a BA in Government from Sacramento State University, and volunteer with the Center for Civic Education's We the People program for High School Seniors. I enjoy mountain biking, cooking (and eating), and spending time with family.
