About Deborah
I’ve worked since age 12 and joined the Army National Guard at age 17, (after begging my mother to sign the papers). By this time in my life I had lost two babies (Andrea 6mos. & Andrea 4mos.) and was feeling hopeless. The military training and discipline I received shaped my life in an amazing way. Although I had only gone as far as the fifth grade when I joined the challenges I faced instilled in me that I could make my life work. Three years later I left the military and received an Honorable Discharge.
I went on to work for companies like Hughes Aircraft (middle management), McDonald Douglas (middle management), Northrop (FX program involving China), Prudential (medical claims manager for a Third Party Administrator) and Daimler Chrysler (material fork lift driver).
Through education assistance from Daimler Chrysler I went back to school and got a GED at age 40. I went on to enroll in Fontbonne University (Webster Groves, Missouri) and am now a senior seeing a Bachelor Degree in Business. I have two grown children, one grandson and have been married and divorced twice.
In 2005 I became an Independent Insurance Adjuster for Pilot Catastrophe Services (a Third Party Administrator for Allstate Insurance Company) when Hurricane Katrina hit and got a Property & Casualty Adjuster License. I primarily worked in the field and traveled all over the United States. I saw states and monuments I had only dreamed about during my deployments. I met Insureds’ who were so grateful I had come to assist them with their loss during a catastrophe. In this occupation I received a six figure income annually (sometimes not working all year). There is article on claimpages.com that talks about the Talent Gap in the Insurance Industry and incomes much higher for four professionals compared to all professionals (from Bureau of Labor and Statistics) in the United States.
My daughter (was working with the American Federation of Labor and Congress of Industrial Organizations/AFL-CIO) as a union organizer and also became an independent adjuster during Katrina working side-by-side. After years of doing claims we noticed a lack of training for the independent adjusters (many had left other careers for this one) and in 2011 started The Property Adjustment Specialists, LLC a Property and Casualty Firm (tpas.us) offering adjusters training that raised their skill set and confidence. This based on practical experience for working for lots of Insurance Carriers (Allstate, State Farm, Encompass, Liberty Mutual, etc.).
In this classroom environment with lots of other adjusters a network was formed and the society bought forth Contents Adjuster Team, LLC in 2013 (contentsgov.com) an adjusting (Third Party Administrator) firm much like the companies we all worked for. The company is certified as a government contractor actively seeking contracts.
At the end of 2015 my daughter and I started working in both of the company’s full time, looking forward to where it can take us and everyone we assist in showing this industry to.
My passion in life is to assist another human being and to be a public servant. For many years I did not feel comfortable in my own skin, based my past and only thought of ways of stopping the world and getting off. Today I have the Hope, Faith and Courage to live and have been a friend of Bill W. since Feb. 3rd of 1987 and for that I will be ever truly grateful.
