About Sergio
I am an active duty Marine with more than 19 years of service and 15 years experience in the public affairs field. I am a trained combat correspondent and a media and public relations professional with some marketing experience.
I will retire in July 2015 and seek a position in corporate communications.
I currently serve as the Public Affairs Chief for the Marine Corps Motion Picture and Television Liaison Office in Los Angeles, where I assist the entertainment industry attain accurate portrayal of the Marines. I have worked with all major television, motion picture studios and managed Los Angeles-area community and media relations programs and marketing efforts.
I also served at Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center, 29 Palms, Calif., the Marine Corps’ largest combined arms and live-fire training facility, where 90 percent of Marines train before deploying to combat. There I managed the installation’s print, radio and television broadcast efforts and was instrumental in developing the center’s social media communication program and the use of twitter for crisis communications.
I have a Master of Business Administration from the University of Phoenix, Gardena, Calif., campus, and a Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Arts from Excelsior College, NY, and a candidate for a Master of Strategic Public Relations from The George Washington University’s School of Political Management. I am a 2008 graduate of the Public Affairs Qualification Course, with honors, from the Defense Information School, Ft. Meade, MD.
I live in Norwalk, Calif., and am a single father of four.
